چکیده

The geodetic information of the terrain can be measured using remote sensing techniques such as photogrammetry, airborne laser scanner (ALS) and interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR). They are considered to be more cost-effective and complementary to conventional ground-based surveying methods. Differential InSAR (DInSAR) can be further used to monitor the dynamic change of the terrain by eliminating the topography from the interferometric phase. The aim of this study is to examine the importance of the resolution of the digital elevation models (DEMs) and the SAR images towards subsidence mapping. The multisensor data which have the various wavelengths, repeat-cycles and imaging resolutions are tested in the following sections. Two DEMs, including a SRTM 90m resolution DEM, and the SAR data acquired by ERS-1/2, JERS-1, Radarsat-1 and ENVISAT were tested and compared. The results indicated the SRTM works well to remove the topographic phase fringes for the moderate terrain. But some topographic residue phases would still occur at steep terrain or in the results of the pairs with larger perpendicular baseline. The results also showed that the coherence of the Radarsat-1 data at finer resolution is conserved better than the ERS-1/2 interferometric pairs. The scheduled SAR satellites in the coming years are also discussed in this paper.

Very High Resolution Parametric and Non- Parametric Sartomography Methods for Monitoring Urban Areas Structures

Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) is the only way to evaluate deformation of the Earth’s surface from space on the order of centimeters and millimeters due to its coherent nature and short wavelengths. Hence, by this means the long term risk monitoring and security are performed as precisely as possible. Traditional SAR imaging delivers a projection of the 3-D object to the two dimensional (2-D) a...

Centimeter Range Measurement Using Amplitude Data of Terrasar-x Imagery

The SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) imagery are largely used for the environmental, structures and infrastructures monitoring. In particular, Differential SAR Interferometry (DInSAR) is a well known technique that allows producing spatially dense displacement maps with centimetre to millimetre accuracy. The SAR signal is characterized by phase and amplitude value and the DInSAR remote sensing te...

Interferometric Monitoring of an Active Underground Mining Field with High-resolution Sar Sensors

Underground mining activities lead to ground movements at the earth surface. An area-wide monitoring and the documentation of mining induced influences are required by the mining authorities. Work done in the past confirmed a significant potential of SAR interferometric methods to contribute information to such monitoring. Nevertheless, in spite of advanced SAR interferometric processing techni...

Spaceborne Imaging Radars for Earth’s Remote Sensing

Spaceborne synthetic aperture radars (SARS) generate high resolution, wide-swath coverage maps of the surface which resembie aeriai photographs. Since SARS are active, microwave instruments, they can operate in day and night situations and are neariy independent of cioud and weather conditions. in the past two decades, SAR imagery had been appiied to numerous Earth’s remote sensing studies. Thi...
